The Incubator Fund covers start-up costs incurred by Indego Africa in building successful market access partnerships with new artisan groups.

Business Registration for One Cooperative

Indego Africa works with government registered, for-profit artisan cooperatives. Artisan cooperatives must register with the Rwandan government in order to receive essential services, including financial advice, conflict resolution, and business training. As many of Indego Africa’s cooperative partners cannot afford the registration fee, Indego Africa subsidizes the cost.

Indego Africa has a proven track record of job creation and economic growth in artisan producer communities:

In 2011, 67% of women earned at least $1 per day, compared to 7% in 2008.

In 2011, 65% of women and their families never ran out of food, compared to 5% in 2008.

In 2011, 78% of women had a bank account, compared to 18% in 2008.

In 2011, 77% of women were satisfied or very satisfied with their quality of life, compared to 8% in 2008.
